Associate Pastor
Full-Time
Reports To: Senior Minister
Position Summary:
First Protestant Church seeks a full-time Associate Pastor who will assist the Senior Pastor in implementing the vision of the church, nurturing its spiritual health, and bringing a spiritual emphasis and growth across the church’s programs. The Associate Pastor will have two focal areas of responsibility, one of which will be oversight of ministries to youth and young adults as well as one other area based on candidate’s experience, gifting and congregational need. Other possible focal areas include missions, outreach, education and administration. Viable candidates will exhibit a mindset of humble service, a track record of commitment in previous ministry contexts, and mature Christian character, with an eagerness to learn and be a part of a team who learns and grows together.

Required Qualifications:
- Deep and obvious love for God and people
- Agrees to First Protestant’s historic faith (see 1929 Evangelical Catechism and to the “Core Beliefs” of our association)
- Preferred Master’s level theological education and 5+ years of pastoral experience
- Ordained standing in the Evangelical Association or qualified and willing to obtain such standing

Ministry Responsibilities:
- Work with the Senior Minister to promote spiritual growth across the ministries of the congregation
- Cultivate and participate in a supportive staff environment through events (meetings, retreats, etc.)
- Initiate and undergird ministry programs with teamwork
- Oversee and develop lay leaders in youth, young adults and young families areas
- Be present in strategic ways in the broader community
- Participate in the life of the church as a member and leader
- This position may be called upon to participate in other areas of the church as needed or deemed fitting by the Senior Minister

Administrative Assistant to the Senior Minister
Part-Time (20 hours per week)
Reports To: Senior Minister
Qualifications:
- Must be a non-member
- Efficient and creative communication skills.
- Experience with website maintenance and church app development and management.
- Technologically savvy with new tech and various social media platforms.
- Ability to work productively/accurately with minimum supervision and with tight timelines.
- Strong computer skills.
- Proficiency in the use of standard office equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and a professional/conscientious work ethic.
- Ability to exercise discernment and wise judgement.
- A commitment to confidentiality regarding all information.
- Self-starter, good at multi-tasking and prioritizing projects.
- Pleasant demeanor, flexibility and committed team member to the church mission.
- Minimum of three years’ experience as an Administrative Assistant.
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or similar work experience.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee church communications including website/app information, social media posts, newsletters, bulletins, community publications, and other things as assigned.
- Help with branding and marketing of the church per guidance from the Senior Minister.
- Produce clear and vision focused communications.
- Assist with maintaining accurate membership records.
- Assist with Ministerial Staff needs, and support as assigned.
- Provide support for events as assigned by the Senior Minister.
- Occasional front desk support.
- Develop annual and quarterly goals with supervisor.
- Watch weekly service online by the end of day Monday.
- Attend worship services as requested.
- Attend congregational meetings.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Senior Minister.

Financial Assistant
Part-Time (20 hours per week)
Reports To: Business Manager (direct) and Senior Minister (vision)
Position Summary:
The Financial Assistant is responsible for working with the Business Manager in all areas of financial administration and human resource management for both First Protestant Church and First Protestant School. Agrees to operate in accordance with First Protestant Church’s Constitution and By-Laws and with the Evangelical Association’s core beliefs.
Qualifications:
- Must be a non-member
- Financial education and working knowledge of all accounting procedures including payroll and budget.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience required. Degree in a related business discipline preferred.
- Ability to keep all financial and personnel information confidential.
- Experience and proficiency in the use of Shelby Next accounting software preferred.
- Strong computer and database management skills.
- Human resources knowledge.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Trustworthy, dependable, self-motivated, and servant minded.
- Team Player
Responsibilities:
- Deposit all funds received by the church and school to the appropriate accounts.
- Keep accurate records of each member’s contributions to the church and prepare quarterly statements.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements.
- Maintain file of invoices, correspondence, and reports.
- Record and maintain all accounts payable.
- Maintain proper IRS forms (W4, W9, I9, 1099, etc.)
- Type appropriate financial correspondence.
- Assist in maintaining financial records and preparing financial reports for all church and school business.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Business Manager or Senior Minister or as necessary to insure smooth operation of the finance office.
- Develop annual and quarterly goals with supervisor.
- Watch weekly service online by the end of day Monday.
- Attend worship services as requested.
- Attend Board of Finance meetings as needed.
- Attend Congregational meetings.
