Through Lay Ministry, First Protestant Church ministers to people who cannot participate in the ordinary life of the church for whatever reason. Many of these individuals are shut-ins whose contact with the church may only be through online or radio broadcasts. To better serve their needs, we provide spiritual friendship and the opportunity to participate in the sacraments through our lay ministry program led by our Director of Lay Ministries, Jill Rodriguez. We are actively seeking people who would like to serve as the hands and feet of Christ for these precious people! If you wish to serve in this way, please contact Jill by email or leave a message at the church office 830-609-7729, ext. 13.
Not everyone who cannot participate in the ordinary life of the church is a shut-in. Others are alienated from the church for a number of reasons. These days, one barrier to participation is the sense that “I don’t belong”. For that reason, First Protestant Church trains and equips lay ministers for these special outreach ministries. Have a dream or sense a call to reach such a group? Contact Minister of Congregational Life Rev. Chuck Huckaby for help in reaching the unreached! You can contact him by email or at 830-609-7729, ext. 18.
We have a variety of supportive ministries that operate “as needed”. Grief Share, Premarital Counseling, Marriage Enrichment Groups and other ministries of pastoral care are available as needs arise. Contact Minister of Congregational Life Rev. Chuck Huckaby if there’s some way we can help or to be referred to the appropriate outside professional! You can reach him by email or at 830-609-7729, ext. 18.
